Post-Intubation Tracheal Stenosis (PITS) by Dr Kanishka Kumar Singh
Post-Intubation Tracheal Stenosis (PITS) is a pathological narrowing of the trachea following prolonged intubation or tracheostomy. Dr. Kanishka Kumar Singh specializes in advanced airway management, utilizing cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to restore optimal respiratory function and patient well-being.
Learning Objectives:
Diagnosis: PITS presents with progressive dyspnea, biphasic stridor, and wheezing, often mistaken for asthma or COPD. Diagnosis is confirmed through flexible bronchoscopy (gold standard), CT with 3D reconstruction, and PFTs showing fixed upper airway obstruction.
2.Management: Mild cases are treated with balloon dilation or laser resection, though recurrence is common. Severe cases require rigid bronchoscopy-guided coring and stent placement, while surgical resection remains the definitive treatment for long-segment stenosis.
